No additional expenses on IBU European Open Biathlon Championships in Belarus

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – The IBU European Open Biathlon Championships will not require additional financial expenses, Director of the Raubichi Olympic Center Aleksandr Gagiev told BelTA on 14 February.

“According to the most conservative estimates, we will earn two and a half times more than we spend on the organization of the European championships. We will host about 35 teams. It is nearly 500 participants for the IBU Cup and the same number of athletes for the European Championships. People will pay for everything themselves. We will not spend a penny more from the budget than it is planned for the IBU Cup to organize the European Championships,” Aleksandr Gagiev noted.

The IBU was supposed to make a decision about the reallocation of the championships on 15 February, but they did it earlier as the weather forecast was not promising for the organizers in Otepaa.

The Belarusian Raubichi will host the European Championships for the second year in a row. The competitions will start on 26 February and will finish on 1 March.

Earlier the FIS canceled the Nordic Combined World Cup due in Estonian Otepaa on 8-9 February.
