TOKYO, 4 August (BelTA) - The athletes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have elected new members to the Athletes' Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
In total, 30 candidates, representing 19 sports, stood for the election.
The new four members included Pau Gasol (basketball, Spain), Maja Wloszczowska (cycling, Poland), Federica Pellegrini (swimming, Italy) and Yuki Ota (fencing, Japan).
2012 London champion Max Mirnyi of Belarus (tennis) was nominated as a candidate for the IOC Athletes' Commission.
