Minsk's best sports venues at the disposal of Sberbankiada

MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) – The competitions of the 13th International Summer Sberbankiada, which is running in Minsk on 15-21 July, are held at the best sports venues in the city, chief secretary of the basketball tournament Vyacheslav Rodnoy told BelTA.

“The organizers did their best to host competitions at the high level by providing the best competition sites in the city. Minsk can host any world-level tournament. Thanks to such major sports events as Sberbankiada, we make new friends and get tonnes of amazing emotions from the games and the atmosphere,” Vyacheslav Rodnoy said.

Basketball coach of the Russian team Viktor Gavrilov gushed over the organization of the tournament. “Everything is convenient; the courts in the Sports Palace comply with the requirements. Athletes feel good and take to the court in high spirits. Sport amateurs do not yield to professionals in terms of the desire to show their best qualities,” he added.

Members of the Moscow basketball team Maksim Sudarkin is impressed with the support of fans. “Competitions of such scale help you take your mind off work, everyday routine. In my opinion, Sberbankiada is a great tradition of Sberbank, one of the leading financial institutions. We also have a lot of fans here who came to Minsk to support our team,” he said.

Sberbankiada's competition sites include: Sports Palace, Falcon Club, athletics stadium of the Belarusian State Medical University. Participants are staying in the Athletes Village of the 2nd European Games.

The tournament has brought together over 2,000 employees of Sberbank from 83 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and 22 countries. Twenty teams from territorial and subsidiary banks, the Central Office and subsidiaries of Sberbank will compete to place first in the overall team standings. Athletes will compete in 40 medal events in 12 sports: mini football, volleyball, beach volleyball, basketball, crossfit, tennis, table tennis, badminton, swimming, running, chess and squash.
