Minsk European Games medals donated to Museum of Polish Olympic Committee

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – Medals of the 2nd European Games were donated to the Museum of the Polish Olympic Committee at a gala dinner in Warsaw to mark the 48th EOC General Assembly and the 100th anniversary of the institution, BelTA learned from the official website of the organization.

Attending the event were heads of the international Olympic movement led by IOC President Thomas Bach and EOC President Janez Kocijancic. Taking part in the event were also representatives of 50 national Olympic committees.

Ahead of the gala dinner President of the Polish Olympic Committee Andrzej Krasnicki and Acting First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko with the participation of Belarus' Ambassador to Poland Vladimir Chushev opened in the hall of the committee's headquarters a stand about the 2nd European Games and the performance of Polish athletes at the games. Poland won 14 medals, including three gold medals, in the Belarusian capital. The Belarusian representatives donated medals of the 2nd European games to the Museum of the Polish Olympic Committee.

Belarus got the right to host the 2nd European Games at the 45th EOC General Assembly in Minsk in October 2016.

On 25-26 October, the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees summarized the results of the 2nd European Games 2019 in Minsk and looked into issues related to the organization of the 3rd European Games 2023 in Krakow and Malopolska Province.

The agenda also included the preparations for the 32nd Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 and the 24th Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022, the 3rd Youth Olympic Games 2020 in Lausanne, the Summer European Youth Olympic Festivals in Slovakia in 2021 and Slovenia in 2023.
