Maradona to keep job as Dynamo Brest chairman

MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) - Diego Maradona will remain as chairman of the football club Dynamo Brest, his lawyer Matias Morla confirmed on social media, BelTA informs.

“Diego will stay on as chairman of Dynamo Brest and will take on the role of technical director of Dorados de Sinaloa. Diego is awaiting a new sports challenge and is happy to get back to work,” the tweet reads.

In May, the Argentinian football legend signed a three-year contract with FC Dynamo Brest to join the club as chairman. During his visit to Brest in July, he told journalists that we wouldn't mind ending his career in the Belarusian city and staying there to live.

The spokesperson for FC Dynamo Brest told BelTA on Friday that the club has yet to receive an official notification from Maradona's representatives on his new job.

Diego Maradona is widely considered to be one the greatest football players of the 20th century. The Argentinian helped his national team win the 1986 FIFA World Cup; he reached the peak of his powers in the Italian club Napoli. Maradona has claimed the Italian league title two times and has also triumphed in the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Cup. In 1997, he officially finished his career, with 363 goals in 687 matches, including 50 goals in 113 appearances for the Argentine team.
