Leparskaya: Belarus should become a real dream team in group competitions by the Olympics

MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian rhythmic gymnastics team that won two gold medals in group competitions at the 2nd European Games in Minsk should become a real dream team by the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, head coach of the Belarusian national team Irina Leparskaya told the media, BelTA has learned.

The team of Anastasiya Rybakova, Arina Tsitsilina, Karyna Yarmolenka, Hanna Shvaiba, and Hanna Haidukevich won the in 3 Hoops and 4 Clubs and Group Multiple Competition.

“Every athlete from the team had to go a long way towards these victories. A month and a half before the games in Minsk we had to change the music composition and work out all the elements. Chief coach Tatiana Nenasheva who worked with the girls made a deed in my opinion. We have a great team which by the 2020 Tokyo Olympics should become even better, a real dream team,” said Irina Leparskaya.

The head coach praised a high level of competition and strict rules in rhythmic gymnastics that keep the intrigue to the very last minute. “Every team makes a complex program. For example, Italians have made a serious headway this season. In Minsk they performed last and only when we saw the scores we understood that we beat them,” the coach said.

Irina Leparskaya hailed great work done by volunteers and a warm support from fans at Minsk Arena. “The girls got used to a big crowd in Spain, Italy. It was great to perform in Minsk. The full arena added emotions. Big thanks for the support,” she said.

Belarus won five medals in rhythmic gymnastics at the 2nd European Games in Minsk.
