MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Winning on the home ground is twice as pleasant, Belarusian athlete Volha Khudzenka, the gold and silver medalist of the 2nd European Games, told the media on 27 June, BelTA has learned.
The athlete said that she had been training hard for all the heats and especially for her individual performance. In her words, the main competition for medals in the K1 500m begins during the second half of the distance.
Commenting on the Women's 4K 500m silver, she noted that Hungary, the same as Belarus, is among the world's strongest teams. The Belarusian athletes hope to take revenge at the next world championships.
“I did not look at anybody. I just did my job. Yesterday, standing on the podium I gave myself a promise to win. It is twice as pleasant to win on the home ground,” Volha Khudzenka said.
Volha Khudzenka has won three medals at the 2nd European Games. On 27 June, she won the K1 500m gold and the K4 500m silver. On 26 June, she and her teammate Maryna Litvinchuk won the K2 500m event.
