IIHF Team player: Belarusian fans leave a positive impression

MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – Belarusian fans that are attending the Christmas International Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament in Minsk these days, leave a positive impression, player of the IIHF Team Andrei Mironov told BelTA.

“When I played for Khimik SKA Novopolotsk in the Belarusian ice hockey championship I saw that people here love ice hockey. They support their teams and know the rules, closely watch the game on the ice,” said Andrei Mironov. “This is the first time I am playing in the Christmas tournament, and the impressions from the Belarusian fans are the most positive as always. For them, as well as for us, the competitions in Minsk are a real celebration of sport. The first game did not go well, but we still have a chance to rectify the situation.”

The Belarus President's team defeated the IIHF Team 11-3 in the opening game of the tournament. Ukraine defeated Switzerland 4-1, the UAE beat China 17-11, and Germany and the Baltics team played in a draw.

All the games of the Christmas Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament will be played at the Chizhovka Arena. The proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Mozyr orphanage. The children from the Mozyr orphanage will be invited to attend the games of the Christmas tournament. A ticket for an evening game played at the big rink of the Chizhovka Arena is Br5. All other games can be attended for free.

The tournament has been organized by the President's Sports Club, the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation, the Sports and Tourism Ministry, and the Minsk City Hall.
