MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – A memorandum of cooperation between the hockey federations of Belarus and Türkiye was signed in Istanbul, the press service of the Belarusian Hockey Federation told BelTA.

The Belarusian delegation at the meeting was represented by Chairman of the Belarusian Hockey Federation Aleksandr Bogdanovich and the organization’s Secretary General Andrei Bashko. As part of the Belarus-Türkiye partnership in hockey, the parties plan to implement programs for the exchange of experience in athlete training, coaching personnel, and the development of refereeing, as well as to organize joint events and tournaments.
“We are glad that Türkiye has become our partner in hockey development. The signed memorandum is not just a document but a roadmap for our cooperation for years to come. We are focused on systematic work that will bring tangible results and strengthen friendly ties between our countries,” Aleksandr Bogdanovich noted. “Türkiye is actively developing the sport, so we have much to learn from each other, especially in women’s hockey. At the same time, we are eager to share our developed methodologies in youth hockey and our experience in organizing competitions.”
Furthermore, the delegation of the Belarusian Hockey Federation attended matches of the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship Division IIA and learned about the tournament infrastructure in Istanbul.

“Hockey is not the most typical sport for Asian countries, but Türkiye takes its development very seriously and invests a lot of effort into creating a comfortable environment for athletes. Women’s hockey has been developing here for about twenty years. A long journey has been made, and their experience could be extremely useful for us. By adopting best practices and adapting them to our realities, we can elevate Belarusian women’s hockey to a new level. We will work on this together,” Andrei Bashko said.
