Head coach happy with Team Belarus training ahead of 2018 FIBA U17 Women's World Cup

MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Belarus has been training for the home World Cup (U-17) since the beginning of 2018, and everything has been running as planned, head coach of the team Victoria Datsun told a press conference in BelTA's press center.

The U-17 national team has the county's best players of this age. They trained at the Grodno School of Olympic reserve. The preparation went smoothly, the team met the objectives it set before themselves ahead of the World Cup. The Belarusian players have arrived in Minsk.

“The team started the final training camp with large loads. It will not be easy for us to play in the Semyon Khalipsky tournament. Competitors are very interesting, especially the Chinese. The Asian girls play basketball in their own style, and this experience will be very useful ahead of the World Cup,” said Victoria Datsun. The Belarusians will also face Estonia and Czech Republic in the Semyon Khalipsky tournament.

After the Minsk tournament Victoria Datsun's team will go to France for the competition and will play friendlies with peers from Lithuania and Latvia, and New Zealand.

Minsk will host the 2018 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup from 21 to 29 July 2018. The venues are the Minsk Palace of Sports and Falcon Club. Belarus is drawn in Group A and will play Colombia (21 July), Japan (July 22) and France (24 July).
