Head coach: Belarus will try its best at CEV EuroVolley 2019

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – Belarus will try hard to display its best performance at the 2019 Women's European Volleyball Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia, head coach of the Belarusian national women's volleyball team Piotr Khilko told a press conference on 19 August, BelTA has learned.

On 8 July, the national women's team started their preparations for the championship and have already held friendlies in Poland, Greece and Ukraine.

“The recent match against Ukraine (0-3) in Zaporozhye produced information to analyze. In my opinion, this defeat will keep the team toned. We still have time before the opening match against Russia in Bratislava on 23 August. We will try our best to stay equal to one of the world's best teams as South Korea did in Kaliningrad during the Olympic qualifiers. We will do our best to display the maximum result, at least to equal our performance two years ago when we finished seventh,” said Piotr Khilko.

According to the head coach, the lineup for the championship includes 14 players. “We have one more training session in Minsk on 20 August and then will travel to Slovakia,” Piotr Khilko said.

Belarus will play their first match of the 2019 Women's European Volleyball Championship against Russia on 23 August. Then, the team will take on Spain on 25 August, Slovakia on 26 August, Germany on 28 August and Switzerland on 29 August.
