Gennady Savilov resigns as chairman of Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Gennady Savilov has resigned as Chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation. Deputy Chairman Dmitry Baskov has been named acting head of the federation, BelTA learned from the official website of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation.

At the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation on 26 August Gennady Savilov, who had headed the federation since June 2018, said that he was grateful to all partners, specialists and athletes who worked with him for two years to promote and develop ice hockey in Belarus. He stressed that he was resigning from the position of the chairman, but not from hockey: “I transfer the powers to my deputy with a light heart and wishes of good luck wishes.” Dmitry Baskov thanked his colleague for the work done and expressed confidence that Gennady Savilov would continue to help developing the sport.

According to the Charter of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation, the new head of the federation will be announced at an extraordinary election conference scheduled for 9 September.
