MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – A 2-1 victory over HC SKA in Game 4 of the Gagarin Cup first playoff round on 8 March keeps HC Dinamo Minsk in the competition, BelTA has learned.
The first period was evenly-fought, and only a goal from Andrei Kuzmenko late in the frame separated the teams at the first intermission.
The start of the second period saw Minsk getting a power play, which the home team duly took advantage of, with Artyom Demkov finishing off a well worked move that also involved Brennan Menell and Shane Prince.
Midway through the third, Dinamo snapped the 1-1 tie thanks to Aleksandr Mosalyov. The SKA bench challenged the call, claiming interference on goalie Alexander Samonov, but a video review ruled the goal to stay.
Late in the final stanza SKA pulled the goalie for an extra player. This move, however, did not work.
SKA lead the series 3-1. The teams will play their next match in St. Petersburg.
