Four medals for Belarus at U20 European Athletics Championships

MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes claimed two gold and two silver medals at the U20 European Athletics Championships in Sweden, BelTA has learned.

On the final day of the competitions, Team Belarus of Katsiaryna Zhyvaeva, Asteria Limay, Valentina Chimbor, and Alina Luchshava clinched silver in the 4x400m relay in 3:37.06 to renew their national record. Athletes from the UK won the event in 3:33.03. Bronze went to Poland (3:37.13).

Belarus' Mark Mazheika placed second in triple jump, with his best attempt of 16.22m. Artem Konovalenko of Ukraine took gold (16.50m). Bronze was collected by Andreas Pantazis from Greece (16.08m).

Mikita Kaliada (10km race walk) and Aleh Tamashevich (shot put) won gold medals for Belarus.

Belarus, with two gold and two silver medals, shared the ninth place with Sweden in the overall medal standings. The UK topped the standings with six gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
