First winners of Snowy Sniper final named

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – The first medalists of the nationwide biathlon competitions among children and teenagers Snowy Sniper were named on 8 February, BelTA has learned.

Clean-shooting student from Gymnasium No.22 Anastasia Popova, the daughter of outstanding Belarusian biathlete Alexander Popov, won the girls' sprint.

Second was Maria Simtsova from Vitebsk Oblast. Third came in Anastasia Chepyzhova from Minsk Oblast.

The boys' event was won by Egor Charkasov from Klimovichi District, Mogilev Oblast. Second was Arseniy Yanayev from Minsk. Bronze went to Valery Kuts from Minsk.

The organizers of the competitions in Raubichi did their best to create a real sport atmosphere for the young participants of the tournament and the fans who came to the sport complex near Minsk. The competitions are broadcast live on youtube channel of the Presidential Sports Club and are commented by leading sport commentators Vladimir Novitsky and Anna Lyubenkova. The ski track in Raubichi meets all necessary world's standards.

The competitions have been organized by the Presidential Sport Club, the Sport and Tourism Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Belarusian Biathlon Federation, Minsk City Hall and Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.
