MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) - The World Short Course Championships will take place in December 2021, BelTA learned from the official website of the International Swimming Federation (FINA).

Initially, the event was to take place in the UAE in December 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, FINA took the decision to move the competitions to 2021. The new dates for the World Short Course Championships in Abu Dhabi are 13-18 December 2021.

“We have worked in close cooperation during the last weeks with the UAE authorities on this matter and we believe this is the most suitable solution for all those taking part in this competition,” FINA President Julio Maglione said.

Earlier, FINA had rescheduled the 2021 FINA World Championships to 2022. The decision was taken after the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic Games to summer 2021.
