FIFA Futsal World Cup postponed to 2021

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - The International Football Federation (FIFA) has postponed the Futsal World Cup to 2021, BelTA has learned.

This decision was made by the Board of the FIFA Council Office over the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the ninth edition of the FIFA Futsal World Cup, which was to be held in Lithuania this autumn, was postponed to 12 September -3 October 2021. The tournament featuring the 24 best teams from all continents will be held in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda.

Team Belarus failed to make it to the final stage of the World Cup finishing fourth in Group A of the elite qualifying round.

Argentina won gold for the first time at the last world cup in Colombia in 2016. Brazil lifted the trophy five times, Spain - two.
