Opinion: 2nd European Games in Minsk will set a high bar for next host country

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – Delegates of the 82nd congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) were briefed on general organizational matters of the 2nd European Games and were given detailed information on the work with the media during the games, the accreditation procedure and the visa-waiver, BelTA learned from the press service of the Directorate of the 2nd European Games. The congress of the International Sports Press Association is taking place in Lausanne on 21-24 January.

“Europe is the heart of sport; after all, it was the birthplace of Olympic Games, the biggest sports event of today. Therefore, it is particularly pleasant that the Old World eventually got an opportunity to host this multi-sport continental event. Four years ago, the European Games debuted in Azerbaijan and were a success. I have no doubts that the games that will take place in Belarus in June will prove their high status for the second time and will set a high bar for the next host country,” Gabil Mekhtiev, Editor-in-Chief of the Sport newspaper (Azerbaijan), AIPS member, member of the organizing committee of the 1st European Games 2015 in Baku, said sharing his impressions of the presentation.

The expert praised the work of the organizing committee. In his words, the experience of hosting such an event will greatly benefit the country.

The delegates of the congress expressed their sincere interest in covering the European Games, which will help ensure an extensive coverage of this sports event by foreign mass media in June 2019.
