MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – A delegation of the European Fencing Confederation came to Minsk on 29 October to assess its potential as a host of the 2020 European Fencing Championships, BelTA learned from the Belarusian National Fencing Federation.
The delegation will get familiar with sports infrastructure and hotels of the city, sports venues. According to preliminary information, the Minsk Arena skating stadium will be the main venue of the fencing championships. The organizers will melt the ice at the stadium ahead of the championships and create all the necessary conditions for the event. The agenda of the visit also includes meetings with Belarusian sports officials.
The European championships are scheduled for 15-21 June 2020. Minsk will welcome all the best athletes of the continent. They will compete for 12 medal events in epee, foil, and sabre individual and team events.
