Enough snow stored in Raubichi for European Championships, IBU Cup

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – The Raubichi Olympic Center has stored 10,000 cubic meters of snow to prepare the tracks for the IBU European Open Biathlon Championships and the IBU Cup, Director of the Raubichi Olympic Center Aleksandr Gagiev told BelTA.

“The snow which is now being delivered to the tracks was prepared two days ago. We have frozen 10,000 cubic meters of snow. If the weather is not good enough for the biathlon competitions, we may ask for help and take the snow from the nearby Logoisk tracks. The main aim is to hold the European Championships to a good standard,” Aleksandr Gagiev noted.

The European Championships were reallocated as the organizers could not guarantee the conditions required for hosting the event because of the warm weather in Estonia. The Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry and the Raubichi Olympic Center have declared they are ready to hold the event. Alongside with the European Championship Belarus will host the IBU Cup on 4-7 March. The program of the competitions was changed and will be reduced by one day.
