MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Educational programs are one of the major ways to counteract doping, Belarus' Deputy Sport and Tourism Minister Aleksandr Baraulya said at the opening of the international anti-doping seminar on 27 February, BelTA has learned.
“Means to combat doping are many. We, however, focus primarily on preventive measures to counteract this negative phenomenon through educational programs. It is not a secret that some doping cases are related to the pure lack of knowledge,” the deputy minister said.
According to Aleksandr Baraulya, Belarus has introduced a number of amendments to the legislation that envisage punishment for doping in sport.
Participants of the international seminar are discussing innovations and best practices in anti-doping education, foreign cases and other important issues related to the fight against doping. The event has been organized by the Sport and Tourism Ministry, the National Olympic Committee, and the National Anti-Doping Agency.
