
MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – The athletes of Belarus and Russia are taking part in the final leg of the Commonwealth Biathlon Cup in Tyumen, Russia, BelTA has learned.
Clean-shooting Dzinara Alimbekava-Smolskaya of Belarus finished fourth in the women's 7.5km sprint on Thursday. Nevertheless the Belarusian still keeps her leading position in the total score table. Ekaterina Noskova of Russia won the event, finishing 15 seconds ahead of the Belarusian athlete. Two other Russian athletes Viktoriya Slivko and Anastasiya Shevchenko placed second and third respectively.
Dzinara Alimbekava-Smolskaya goes with 1,551 points. Viktoriya Slivko is 59 points behind, Irina Kazakevich is in the third spot.
As for the performance of other Belarusian athletes in the women's sprint, Irina Kruchinkina-Shakleina finished 17th, Elena Kruchinkina – 21st, Adelina Sabitava - 28th among 43 biathletes.
The men's sprint will feature eight Belarusian athletes: Anton Smolski, Ilia Auseenka, Mikita Labastau, Stsiapan Danilau, Pavel Belko, Maksim Varabei, Aliaksandr Koshyn and Raman Yaliotnau.
The final leg of the Commonwealth Biathlon Cup will also feature two pursuit events on Saturday. The winners of the total score standings will be named on 12 March after mass starts.
