Dinamo Minsk out of Gagarin Cup competition

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk completed its Gagarin Cup run in Game 5 losing to HC SKA St Petersburg 3-4 in overtime on 10 March, BelTA has learned.

It was Pavel Varfolomeyev who had the first significant contribution of the game, scoring the opening for Minsk in the fourth minute. After that SKA stepped up the tempo and much of the remainder of the first period was played in front of Dominik Furch's net.

In the second period Emil Galimov first tied the scores and later put his team in front.

At the start of the third Minsk turned the game upside down once again. Kirill Marchenko took a penalty, and Varfolomeyev was there to grab his second of the game and level off on the power play. Just a minute later, Denis Mosalyov made it 3-2.

SKA held its nerve and, with barely two minutes to play, Kirill Marchenko sent the game into overtime.

An overtime winner from Anton Burdasov sent SKA into the Western Conference semifinal and a match-up with Dynamo Moscow.
