Dakar 2020: Belarusian MAZ-SPORTauto second at Stage 3

MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) – Siarhei Viazovich's crew of MAZ-SPORTauto Team finished second at Stage 3 of the Dakar Rally on 7 January, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian crew reached the finishing line 4 minutes and 54 seconds behind Andrei Karginov of Russian KAMAZ-Master who covered 427km in 3 hours 59 minutes and 15 seconds. His teammate Anton Shibalov came in third with an 11 minutes and 13 seconds gap.

Siarhei Viazovich is leading overall.

This is the first time the Dakar Rally is taking place in the Middle East after the 11 years in South America. Saudi Arabia will be hosting the marathon rally for at least 5 years in a row from 2020. The rally is featuring 351 crews: 170 motorcycles and quad bikes, 134 cars and buggies, and 47 trucks. The rally raid will end in Qiddiya on 17 January.
