Dakar 2020: Belarusian crew comes sixth at Stage 8

MINSK, 13 January (BelTA) - Siarhei Viazovich's crew of the Belarusian MAZ-SPORTauto Team came sixth at Dakar's Stage 8, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian MAZ lost 18:38 to the stage winner Andrei Karginov from the Russian Kamaz-Master who topped Stage 8 with the result of 4:24.58. Kamaz-Master's Anton Shibalov came in second, 5:54 behind. Ales Loprais of the Czech Praga Team was third lagging 9:06 behind the winning time.

Siarhei Viazovich goes third overall, 1:05.17 behind Kamaz-Master's Andrei Karginov, who is the leader with 34:31.43. Another Kamaz-Master crew piloted by Anton Shibalov is second (27:06).

For the first time in history the Dakar Rally is taking place in the Middle East after 11 years in South America. Saudi Arabia will be hosting the marathon rally for at least 5 years in a row from 2020. This year's rally is featuring 351 crews: 170 motorcycles and quad bikes, 134 cars and buggies, and 47 trucks. The rally raid will end in Qiddiya on 17 January.
