MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) - Galina Bruyevich of Belarus clinched bronze in the women's 57kg category at the international boxing tournament Branko Pesic Memorial - Belgrade Winner, which is underway in Serbia on 23-27 April, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian defeated Croatia's Nikolina Cacic 4-1 in the quarterfinal, but lost in to Russia's Liudmila Vorontsova the semifinal. According to the competition rules, athletes who reach this stage of the tournament receive bronze medals.
Three more Belarusian athletes: Yulia Apanasovich (51kg), Alexandra Karpovich (54kg), and Viktoryya Kebikava (75kg) did not make the podium, losing in the quarterfinal bouts.
The 58th edition of the Branko Pesic Memorial -Belgrade Winner tournament has welcomed 211 male and female athletes from 35 countries in the Serbian capital. The organizers view this event as a rehearsal ahead of the 2021 World Boxing Championships in Belgrade.
