BREST, 31 March (BelTA) – Brest will play host to the international field hockey tournament Prometheus on 12-15 April, Director of the Stroitel sport club Vasily Leshchinsky told BelTA.

“Unfortunately, there were practically no international field hockey competitions last year. This year, despite certain difficulties, we have decided to hold a tournament. Among those eager to take part are the champion and winners of the Russian championship, the champion of Ukraine, two strongest clubs of our country. The tournament will be very spectacular, because the teams that are going to take part are of a high level, play in European cups,” said Vasily Leshchinsky.

HC Stroitel Brest, HC Minsk, Russia's Dynamo-Elektrostal, Dynamo-Stroitel (Yekaterinburg), Dynamo-Ak Bars (Kazan) and OKS-SHVSM from Ukrainian Vinnitsa have confirmed the participation in the tournament. The teams will be divided into two groups to play in a round robin system.

Entrance to the Stroitel stadium will be free. The organizers of the tournament are in talks for a broadcast of matches on Belarus 5 TV channel.

The tournament is organized by the Sport and Tourism Department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, the Belarusian Field Hockey Federation, the Brestobgaz and Brestzhilstroi companies.
