Belarusian Wrestling Championship watched by fans in 21 countries

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) - Fans from 21 countries watched the broadcast of the Belarusian Wrestling Championship, Executive Director of the Belarusian Wrestling Federation Yuri Shcherbachenya told BelTA.

“Athletes showed great results at the Belarusian Wrestling Championship. The winners of the tournament were awarded with money prizes. Wrestling fans also showed high interest. The live broadcast was available in 21 countries. The Belarusian Wrestling Federation has successfully resumed competitions and the season continues. The next competition will be the Olympic Youth Days. Greco-Roman wrestlers will compete on 20-21 August,” said Yuri Shcherbachenya.

The Belarusian national team for the CIS Games in Kazan will be formed after the championship. The CIS Games, the multi-sport competitions among athletes under 23, were to be held in August, but were postponed to October due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the United World Wrestling Executive Committee voted to cancel the European Cadet Championship scheduled for 5-11 October in Poland and the European Junior Championship planned on 19-25 October 2020 in North Macedonia.

Further discussion of this year's calendar will take place in September.
