MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Belarusian wrestlers won four medals at the Dan Kolov – Nikola Petrov International Wrestling Tournament in Ruse, Bulgaria, BelTA has learned.
Silver went to Ali Shabanov in the 86kg weight category. The many-time medalist of world championships reached the final beating Ville Heino of Finland 2-0, France's Akhmed Aibuyev 6-1, and Nicholas Heflin of the United States 10-0. Ali Shabanov was to face Fatih Erdin in the semifinal but the rival had to withdraw due to an injury.
In the final Ali Shabanov lost to Iran's Olympic champion Hassan Yazdani 5-16.
Bronze medals in Ruse were claimed by Niurgun Skriabin (under 56kg), Vanessa Kolodinskaya (53kg), and Irina Kurochkina (57kg).
