Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation names best player, coach 2019/2020

MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) - The Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation named the best player and coach of the 2019/2020 season following a poll among players and representatives of ice hockey schools of the country, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation.

Andrei Kostitsyn, the former captain of HC Dinamo Minsk, was named best ice hockey player, and Andrei Skabelka - best coach, who now coaches HC Lokomotiv Yaroslavl after parting ways with HC Barys Nur-Sultan.

Andrey Kostitsyn, who now plays for HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, earned 34 points (17+17) when playing for HC Dinamo Minsk. The top three also features defenders Nick Bailen from HC Traktor Chelyabinsk (37) and Kristian Henkel from HC Ak Bars Kazan (24). A total of 46 players were named during the poll.

With HC Barys Nur-Sultan placing first in the KLHL's Arkady Chernyshev division for the second year in a row and finishing second in the Eastern Conference, Andrei Skabelka scored 153 points in the voting and placed ahead of HC Shakhtyor Soligorsk coach Yuri Faikov (54) and head coach of HC Minsk Yunost, this year's national champion, Aleksandr Makritsky (50). A total of 23 specialists were named during the poll.
