Belarusian Golf Association joins EGA

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian Golf Association (BGA) became the member of the European Golf Association (EGA). The nomination was unanimously approved by the EGA General Assembly in Lausanne, BelTA has learned.

Belarus' application for membership was considered as a separate point of the session. BGA Chairman Vladimir Drazhin talked about the progress in the implementation of the golf development program for the period up to 2020. He drew special attention to the effort to open new golf clubs and training grounds, equip them, train coaches, develop minigolf and promote it among young people, and also step up the BGA's effort at the international level. Vladimir Drazhin underlined that Belarus' accession to the EGA is an important impetus to golf development in the country.

The BGA has been cooperating with Lithuanian and Polish colleagues and building up the infrastructure. In 2016, the first minigolf course opened in Mogilev. It is available to young people and school students, as well as adults.

Following the session of the EGA General Assembly in Lausanne, Vladimir Dazhin met with EGA President-elect Pierre Bechmann. They discussed BGA-EGA cooperation and assistance with developing golf infrastructure in Belarus.

The BGA chairman also held bilateral negotiations with heads of European golf federations, associations, and unions.
