Belarusian chess players win Vladimir Dvorkovich Cup in Kazakhstan

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Young Belarusian chess players won the international tournament Vladimir Dvorkovich Cup which is underway in Aktobe, Kazakhstan from 22 to 26 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Chess Federation.

This year competing for the trophy were boys and girls from Armenia, India, China, Belarus, Iran, Canada, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Azerbaijan. The competitions were held as a round-robin tournament with a FIDE rating calculation.

The Belarusian team featuring Vyachaslau Zarubitski, Dianis Lazavik, Volha Badelka and Aliaksandra Tarasenka won gold medals before the end of the competitions.

The Belarusian players scored a total of 17 points after securing eight victories and one draw. Silver went to China with 14 points. Bronze was collected by Russia.
