MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus men's and women's teams secured victories at the 2018 Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia, BelTA has learned.
In the fourth round the Belarusian men's team of Vladislav Kovalev, Sergei Zhigalko, Kirill Stupak and Aleksei Fedorov beat Kazakhstan 2,5:1,5.
Belarus women's team won with the same score against Turkmenistan.
The sport forum will feature the FIDE General Assembly session where delegates of 186 countries will choose the host of the 2022 World Chess Olympiad. Russia's Khanty-Mansiysk will host its edition in 2020.
The World Chess Olympiad is held once in two years. The first one took place in 1927. Belarus debuted at the competitions in Moscow in 1994.
