Belarus to name wrestling roster for CIS Games

MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) - Following the Belarusian wrestling championships (freestyle, women's and Greco-Roman), which will be held in Minsk on 14-18 August, we will name the roster for the CIS Games, executive director of the Belarusian Wrestling Federation Yuri Shcherbachenya told BelTA.

“The event will be held at the National State College of Olympic Reserve. We plan to see how our talented young athletes are doing. After the tournament, we will name the athletes who will go to Russia's Kazan for the CIS Games. For young people, the August competition will be the first major event since the pandemic started. The tournament will be broadcast online,” Yuri Shcherbachenya said.

He noted that the athletes of the national team feel well. The first serious competition for adult athletes will be the 50th international freestyle wrestling tournament for the prizes of three-time Olympic champion Alexander Medved.

“For us, the 2020 season is not over yet. Belarusian wrestlers are looking forward to this year's World Championships in Serbia, the CIS Games, the tournament for the prizes of Alexander Medved and international competitions in Kiev and Poland. Athletes are actively training, the competitions will begin soon. We hope our athletes will do well,” Yuri Shcherbachenya added.
