Belarus to field nine athletes at EUBC Women's European Boxing Championships 2019

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – Nine Belarusian athletes will compete for medals of the EUBC Women's European Boxing Championships 2019 which is due to take place in Alcobendas, Spain on 22-31 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Boxing Federation.

The tournament will feature medal events in the following weight categories: 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg and +81kg.

Belarus will be represented at the competitions by Yana Burim (48kg), Olga Lushchyk (51kg), Yulia Apanasovich (54kg), Galina Bruyevich (57kg), Alla Yarshevich (60kg), Antonina Aksenova (64kg), Alina Veber (69kg), Viktoryya Kebikava (81kg), and Yekaterina Kovaleva (+81kg).

It is expected that about 200 athletes will take part in the tournament.

The men's European boxing competitions were held in June 2019 as part of the 2nd European Games. Dzmitry Asanau (60kg) secured a gold medal, his teammate Uladzislau Smiahlikau (91kg) clinched silver.

At the previous Women's European Boxing Championships Yana Burim and Viktoryya Kebikava won bronze medals.
