MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes will play their first rounds of the FMJD Cup of Nations Online against the teams of the Netherlands and Estonia, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Draughts Federation.
The competitions will be held in draughts 100 under the aegis of the World Draughts Federation (FMJD). They will start on 21 June.
The women's event will feature 11 teams. The best six teams will advance to the playoffs. The Belarusian team will play against the Netherlands in the first round.
The men's event will include 26 teams. 14 participants will reach the playoffs. The Belarusian team will face Estonia in the first round.
The Belarusian Draughts Federation said that the online competitions have been gaining popularity recently.
In the recent games ahead of the Cup of Nations Belarusian players lost to the Netherlands 21-27 and defeated Ukraine 25-23.
