Belarus to compete in 2021 ISU World Figure Skating Championships

MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian national team will compete in all four parts of the program of the 2021 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Directorate of Figure Skating of the Skating Union of Belarus Yuri Tishkov.

Belarusian athletes have earned berths in the ladies' and men's individual programs, pairs and ice dance. The 2021 World Figure Skating Championships will be one of the qualifiers for the 2020 Olympic Games. The event will determine 80% of all the Olympic berths.

At present the number of entries for the figure skating events at the Olympic Games is limited by a quota set by the International Olympic Committee.

The 2020 ISU World Figure Skating Championships was due to take place in Montreal but also canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 2021 edition is to be held in Stockholm in March.

The 2022 Winter Olympics will take place in Beijing on 4-20 February.
