Belarus to attend Forum for Young Olympians

MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) - On 1 June, Moscow will host the international Forum for Young Olympians, which will bring together young athletes and focus on the Olympic values and principles, as well as the rules of clean sport. Belarus is set to attend the event, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

Belarus will be represented at the forum by 3-on-3 ice hockey player, champion of the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games (Lausanne, Switzerland) Ilya Korzun, two-time champion of the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games of 2018 (Buenos Aires, Argentina) in judo Artsiom Kolasau, bronze medalist in women's wrestling at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games (Buenos Aires, Argentina) Natallia Varakina and bronze medalist in women's wrestling at the 2019 Summer European Youth Olympic Festival (Baku, Azerbaijan) Aliaksandra Kislyakova.

The main objectives of the forum are to form a high anti-doping culture and conscious rejection of negative phenomena in sport among young athletes. The event will be attended by the heads of the Russian Olympic Committee, representatives of WADA and RUSADA, the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation.

Because of the pandemic restrictions across the globe, European participants will not be able to attend the forum in-person this year. A special studio will be set up at Irina Viner-Usmanova Rhythmic Gymnastics Center for them. International experts and Russian Olympians will take park in the event. Live broadcast will be held on the official website of the Russian Olympic Committee. The representatives of NOCs of Slovakia, Slovenia, Moldova, Georgia, Greece, Portugal, Poland, Serbia, Turkmenistan, Estonia and Lithuania have already confirmed their remote participation in the international Forum for Young Olympians.

The forum is organized by the Russian Olympic Committee with the support of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and with the assistance of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) and the Moscow Sports Department.
