Belarus' Tatsiana Klimovich advances to Olympic regatta quarterfinal

TOKYO, 23 July (BelTA) – Belarusian rowers have kicked off their Olympic medal quest in Tokyo, with women's single sculler Tatsiana Klimovich finishing second in 7:51.86 in heat 1.

Kara Kohler of the United States clocked 7:49.71 to top the table. Third was Nazanin Malaei of Iran (7:59.01).

Alejandra Alonso of Paraguay placed fourth with the time of 8:11.88.

The 2020 Olympic rowing regatta in Tokyo will include 14 medal events. The regatta is taking place at the Sea Forest Waterway from 23 to 30 July. Apart from Tatsiana Klimovich, Belarus will be represented in this sport by women's lightweight double scullers Elena Furman and Ina Nikulina and men's coxless pair Dzmitry Furman and Siarhei Valadzko.
