Belarus-Russia Union State spartakiad for students kicks off in Sochi

MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – The spartakiad in competitive sports for students from the Belarus-Russia Union State kicked off at the Yug Sport sports center in Sochi on 25 October, BelTA learned from the press service of Belarusian State Physical Culture University.

The spartakiad will last for six days and will feature tournaments in badminton, volleyball, and table tennis.

Belarus is represented by athletes from universities of Minsk, Grodno, Vitebsk, and Gomel. Russian participants include teams of student sport clubs from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Voronezh Oblast, Rostov Oblast, Penza Oblast, Tyumen Oblast, Tatarstan, and the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania.

During the spartakiad, the delegations will visit the Olympic Park, take part in a campaign timed to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and attend the opening of the museum of winter sports in the Iceberg Skating Palace. In 2020, legs of the spartakiad are set to be hosted by Belarus' Orsha and Gomel and Russia's Volgograd and Ryazan.
