Belarus-Russia Union State spartakiad for children and teenagers kicks off in Dmitrov

MOSCOW, 16 April (BelTA) – The 2019 spartakiad for children and teenagers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia has kicked off in the city of Dmitrov, Moscow Oblast. Dmitrov is hosting the first leg of the spartakiad – the Russia-Belarus ice hockey competition among school students, BelTA learned from the Union State Standing Committee.

The ice hockey tournament has drawn 136 school students aged between 13 and 14 and will last till 20 April. The teams represent Minsk, Minsk Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Russia's Primorsky Krai, Republic of Tatarstan, Moscow Oblast, and Vologda Oblast. The tournament will determine the strongest teams and the best players in various nominations.

The Union State spartakiads for children and teenagers have been held since 2003 in line with the resolution of the Union State Council of Ministers. Next legs of the 2019 spartakiad will be held in Belarus' Brest and Molodechno, and in Russia's Sochi.
