NUCLEAR POWER IN BELARUS AND WORLDWIDE
MOSCOW, 26 November (BelTA) – The Sambo Absolute Cup for the Prizes of the Union State will be held in Russia's Sochi on 7 December. The tournament will be timed to the 20th anniversary of the Union State Treaty, BelTA learned from the Union State Standing Commitee.
“The tournament will bring together 16 best sambo athletes in the absolute weight category. The organizers expect the world, European and Asian champions from Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Romania, Serbia, France and other countries. On the sidelines of the tournament, legendary sambists will hold workshops and meet with young athletes,” the Union State Standing Committee informed.
Sambo originated in the Soviet Union. It was intended to be a merger of the most effective techniques of various martial arts. “In 2018 sambo received temporary recognition of the International Olympic Committee. We believe that sambo will become part of the Olympic Games program in 2024,” the Standing Committee informed.
This tournament is organized by the Athletes Association “We Are From SAMBO” with the support of FIAS, the All-Russian SAMBO Federation, the administration of Krasnodar Krai and the city of Sochi.
