Belarus reach 2020 Fed Cup finals

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) - Belarus booked a spot at the Fed Cup Finals by defeating the Netherlands 3-2 in their Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Qualifier in the Hague on 7-8 February, BelTA has learned.

The doubles rubber turned to be a decider, in which Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka and Aliaksandra Sasnovich fought through Kiki Bertens and Demi Schuurs 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8). The game lasted for two hours and 24 minutes.

On the first Saturday singles rubber Aryna Sabalenka lost 4-6, 4-6 to Kiki Bertens. Aliaksandra Sasnovich leveled off later defeating Arantxa Rus 0-6, 5-7, 6-2.

Earlier, on 7 February, Aliaksandra Sasnovich lost 7-6, 2-6, 1-6 to Kiki Bertens, and Aryna Sabalenka beat Arantxa Rus 6-2, 6-3.

Apart from Belarus, heading to the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals 2020 are also Spain, Switzerland, Russia, Germany, Slovakia, Belgium and the United States.

The Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals 2020 will take place in Budapest on 9-14 April. Playing in the Hungarian capital will also be Hungary, Australia, the Czech Republic and France.
