MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – Belarus has secured its third victory to progress to the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier playoffs in Moscow, BelTA has learned.
In Group E, Belarus defeated Switzerland 3-2 in a shootout in the final match.
Earlier, Belarus beat Turkey and Lithuania. The Group E final standings are as follows: Switzerland – 6 points, Belarus – 5, Lithuania – 3, and Turkey – 0.
Taking part in the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier in Moscow are 19 teams. Three teams from each group and also the best team out of those placed fourth progressed to the playoffs. Then, the eight winners will be distributed into two groups of four again. The best two teams of each of those groups will qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Paraguay 2019. The third-ranked sides of those groups will face in the final play-off for the last ticket at stake.
The tournament in the Russian capital will end on 27 July.
