MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – Belarus has progressed into the 2019 Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal, BelTA has learned.
In the last match in Italy's Catania the Belarusians lost to Italy in penalty shootouts. Belarus led twice, 1-0 and 2-1, throughout the game, but the opponents managed to level off, 2-2, to take the game into overtime. There were no goals during extra time and Italy celebrated the 3-2 victory in a 3-2 shootout.
Earlier, Belarus defeated France 4-1 and Germany 3-2. The final standings are as follows: Italy – 7 points, Belarus – 6, Germany – 1, and France – 0.
The 2019 Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal will take place in Figueira da Foz, Portugal on 5-8 September. Competing for the champion title will be Belarus, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, Portugal, Russia and Turkey. Last season Belarus finished fifth. Gold went to Italy, silver to Spain and bronze to Portugal.
