Belarus' National Olympic Committee hosts New Year event for children

MINSK, 27 December (BelTA) - Belarus' National Olympic Committee invited more than 350 children for a traditional New Year event on 26 December, BelTA has learned.

Among the guests were Olympic champions Alexander Bogdanovich, Alexey Grishin, Dmitri Dovgalenok, Anton Kushnir, Roman Petrushenko, Yanina Korolchik-Provalinskaya, Alla Tsuper, and Olympic medalists Dmitri Dashinski, Anastasia Prokopenko, Ksenia Sankovich, Alina Tumilovich, Vadim Deviatkovski, Michail Semenov, and also sports veterans and representatives of the sports organizations from all regions of Belarus and their children and grandchildren.

At the start of the event, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee George Katulin read put a welcoming address from Belarus President, NOC President Alexander Lukashenko.

Within the framework of the Our Children charity campaign, Belarus' National Olympic Committee invited students from Radoshkovichi boarding school for orphans and children deprived of parental care and Rudensk special needs boarding school to the New Year event and gave them gifts.

The event was also attended by students of Rogachev secondary school No.6, the winners of the Together with the Team contest in support of young athletes at the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.

The guests of the event enjoyed the children's New Year musical “New Year Academy” from the Youth Variety Theater featuring the mascots of the Belarusian sports clubs, including the 2nd European Games mascot Lesik the Fox who was the most popular character with children in the selfie zone.

After the event, all children got goody bags from the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
