MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian national football team will kick off their new season with a match against Cyprus, BelTA has learned.
The team will play their first friendly under new head coach Viktar Hancharenka in Cyprus on 26 March.
In previous years, the national teams of Belarus and Cyprus have met twice: in February 2004, Belarus won 2-0, and in November 2008, Cyprus got their revenge with a 2-1 victory. In the current FIFA rankings, the Belarusian team holds the 99th place, while Cyprus is ranked 128th.
