MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – Head coach of the Belarusian national ice hockey team Mikhail Zakharov has named a squad for the training camp ahead of the Kaufland Cup 2020 in Poprad, Slovakia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation.
The majority of the February training camp are players of HC Dinamo Minsk and the teams of the Belarusian Extraleague. Belarusians playing for the Russian clubs in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) remain with their teams to better prepare for the final part of the regular season and playoffs.
Mikhail Zakharov has called the following players:
goaltenders: Ivan Kulbakov (Neftyanik, VHL), Konstantin Shostak (Molot Prikamye Perm, VHL);
defensemen: Andrei Antonov, Evgeny Nogachev, Nikita Tarletsky (all – HC Yunost Minsk), Sergei Bogoleisha (HC Shakhtyor Soligorsk), Kirill Gotovets, Dmitry Znakharenko (both – HC Dinamo Minsk);
forwards: Dmitry Buinitsky (HC Avangard, KHL), Artur Gavrus (HC Dinamo St. Petersburg, VHL), Sergei Drozd (HC Yunost Minsk), Artyom Kisly, Aleksandr Malyavko (both – HC Neman), Vladislav Kodola (HC Severstal, KHL), Evgeny Kovyrshin, Andrei Kostitsyn, Aleksandr Kitarov, Aleksandr Pavlovich, Mikhail Stefanovich (all – HC Dinamo Minsk).
Mikhail Zakharov will be assisted by Anatoly Chistyakov, who previously worked with HC Dinamo Minsk, HC Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg and HC Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk.
Belarus' national team will open the training camp at Chizhovka Arena on 3 February. On 5 February they will travel to Poprad for the Kaufland Cup 2020. The tournament will also feature Slovakia and Russia. Belarus will open the tournament against the hosts on 6 February and will face Russia on 7 February.
