MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – Belarusian middleweight boxer Mikalai Vesialou (72.5kg) defended his WBA Continental champion title in Belgium on 19 October, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian faced Denmark's Abdul Khattab.
From the very beginning Mikalai Vesialou seemed to dominate in the center of the ring. In the second round, the Belarusian continued to push the opponent to the ropes with his quick counterattacks.
Throughout the fight Abdul Khattab tried to get closer with his attempts going unsuccessful. Mikalai Vesialou kept the opponent at a distance, outboxing him every time. The Belarusian won the 12-round bout by the decision of the judges to retain his WBA Continental champion title.
Ivan Baranchyk of Belarus won his WBA Inter-Continental Super Lightweight champion title in October 2019.
