Belarus' Maryna Zuyeva clinches second gold at Russian Speed Skating Championship

MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) - Belarusian athletes are taking part in the Russian Speed Skating Championship in the Kuzbass Ice Palace in Kemerovo, BelTA has learned.

Maryna Zuyeva has clinched her second gold at the event. On 28 December the best Belarusian speed skater won the women's mass start, finishing 17 seconds ahead of the second-place athlete. Two days earlier Maryna Zuyeva claimed gold in the women's 3,000m.

Belarus has so far bagged six medals at the Russian Speed Skating Championship. Apart from Maryna Zuyeva, medals for Belarus were collected by Yahor Damaratski, Evgenij Bolgov and Viktar Rudenka (silver in the men's team), Hanna Damaratskaya (bronze in the women's 500m), Tatsiana Mikhailava, Yevgeniya Vorobyova and Ekaterina Sloeva (bronze in the women's team). Viktar Rudenka also took bronze in the men's 1,000m.

The Russian Speed Skating Championship will be over on 29 December. Competing are 160 athletes from 25 subjects of the Russian Federation and also speed skaters from Belarus.
